The Nigerian Achievers Awards Institute was established in the year 2000, to celebrate Nigeria’s fortieth Independence anniversary. The inaugural event was held on the first of October 2000 at the Hilton Hotel Olympia under the distinguished Chairmanship of Professor Oluyemi Osinbajo, the then Attorney General of Lagos State. On that occasion, about twenty Nigerians were recognised and duly honoured with a merit award.
Over the past twenty one years, the platform has been quite instrumental in celebrating Nigerians seen to be making landmark achievements in their various fields of human endeavour, particularly in the United Kingdom and United States.
